Every year Richard Harrington MP encourages all companies exhibiting at the Jobs Fair to sign up to the Disability Confident Scheme. It is designed to help employers recruit and retain disabled people and people with health conditions, and it plays a leading role in changing attitudes for the better.
Over 7 million people of working age in the UK are disabled or have a health condition. Disability Confident is about getting employers to think differently about disability and to take action to improve how they attract, recruit and retain disabled workers. Companies can sign up and be at one of 3 levels (Committed, Employer and Leader.)
More than 12,000 organisations have signed up to become Disability Confident including local employers Warner Bros, Watford Community Housing, The Grove, Hertfordshire County Council and many more.
Richard Harrington MP says:
“On visits to local businesses, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting so many determined and driven disabled people who have been given a chance and have gone above and beyond what the employer expected.
I support the scheme because I want more employers to have the confidence to offer these chances and reap the benefits. Being Disability Confident could help you discover someone your business just can’t do without!”
